Kensington

I took advantage of yesterdays clear skies and headed down to Kensington Market with my favorite ginger, Blair Stutz. I don't think there's a single neighborhood I love more then Kensington.

Wandering through Photography Dr.

After finishing styling a photo shoot, Julia and I took advantage of the empty building and attempted a mini shoot of our own. Here I paired a dress I had recently finished sewing on Saturday with a classic looking, vintagey wool jacket to match the sophistication of the garment and added a never-fail pair of glitter Lita's to spice it up.

Everyone Sleeps in the End

After a recent vacation to the little town of Charleston, 18th century pirates have been occupying my mind. And not just any old pirates, but ghost pirates. I've never really believed in ghosts before until me and my mum took a dungeon tour in Charleston where I had my first encounter with what might be a ghost. We were first walking in the dungeon, one of the chains on the handrail began to vibrate but originally I didn't think much of it until afterwards when i realized there's no wind in a sealed dungeon. As we moved alongside the tour guide I felt a sharp pinch on my bottom, when I looked behind me no one was there and I could feel that pinch for about up to 30 minutes after. Was it just the power of suggestion or a dead pirate looking for booty in the afterlife I don't know but I'm loving their style.
Here I paired a summer maxi dress with a skull scarf and a turban for a fun pirate-y themed look which was cool and comfortable to go down the streets of Toronto this afternoon

Betsey Johnson Jacket

After 7 months of what felt like a new ice age, the sun has finally popped out from underneath the clouds and lent us a little warmth which can only mean one thing.. Summer shopping! With a little encouragement from the rainy weather report, I devoted this week to summer shopping around the beautiful stores on Queen St. and Yorkville tearing through every sale rack in sight! Finding a nice item in a sales rack I find is very similar to a thrift shopping, most of the time you find nothing, but sometimes you score BIG. This was exactly the case with my new Betsey Johnson sailor jacket! It was originally priced at $360 but, I picked this up for an extra $100 off.
To go with the regal vibe of the golden buttons on the jacket, I added my fun "royal wedding" hat and a long red skirt to play up the regal and the nautical feel of the garment.

Her Fearful Symmetry

The sun is just beginning to come out for the first time in what feels like years so i wanted to keep my outfit light and flowy but also with a dash of spring elegance. The floral shorts screamed spring (plus there awfully comfortable) along with my favorite Jeffery Campbell wedges. Both the colors on the shoes and the shorts were pastels so i kept the rest of the pieces light with a never fail white tank and a soft cashmere cardi.

The Met Gala: Best Dressed 2011

With the Costume Institute Gala at the Met celebrating their unveiling of their new exhibition "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty", it was easy to assume that the garments spotted on this red carpet would be over the top much like the designer being honored. Many celebrities even wore old vintage pieces of his from 4-5 seasons ago. All looked fabulous but here's my personal top 15:

Diane Kruger in Jason Wu

Chanel Iman in Docle & Gabbana

Madonna in Stella McCartney

BeyoncĂ© Knowles in Emilio Pucci

Florence Welch in Yves Saint Laurent
Alexa Chung in Christopher Kane
Karen Elson in Alexander McQueen

Mia Wasikwoska in Thakoon

Naomi Campbell in Alexander McQueen

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel

Sarah Jessica Parker in Alexander McQueen

Karolina Kurkova in Jean Paul Gautier

Miranda Kerr in Marchesa

Elle Fanning in Valentino

Return of the Grunge Girl

I've been a grunge freak ever since I fell in love with Kurt Cobain but my wardrobe tends to lean towards to conservative side. As disappointing as this for the little rock 'n' roll princess deep inside me, with a little shopping of my friends closet I found this beautiful Alexander McQueen knock-off scarf to help edge up any stiff outfit. The scarf itself takes the spotlight so I didn't wanna pair it with anything leather or studded in order to avoid being too cliche, Instead I paired it with a pilgrim-like dress and thigh highs to help keep it in balance.

Recent Obsessions

Perhaps you could say I have a shoe fetish, but when designers like Chanel and Alexander McQueen made shoes art you can walk on, it's hard not to spend on hours on the computer screen drooling over them.

Dolce&Gabbana Fall Winter 2011-12 Fashion Show Highlights

Though most of us are still worried about getting our necessities for the upcoming spring, in the go-go world of fashion were already worried about next winter! As much as I was looking forward to some sun, after browsing through D&G's upcoming fall winter line, I'm already dreaming of next winter. The collection was full of both androgynous and feminine pieces using a variety of fabrics and patterns such as lace, animal print, chiffon, fur, sequins, and a black and white star pattern which often reappeared throughout the show.  I'm especially loving D&G's rigid, oversize boxy blazers and vests with the playful and daring fabrics! Overall I can tell next year is going to be kick-a** already!
